The fact that there is no bridge to link Vashon-Maury Island with Seattle, Tacoma or Kitsap peninsula has been the  key to maintaining our rural identity. Thus transportation to Vashon- Maury Island is either  by boat.   I have the following website connections for ready information on access this type of transportation 

Washington State Ferries have schedules to ferries arriving from west Seattle to the north end of Vashon-May Island.  You will also find ferry schedules for South end of our islands’ to Tacoma.  www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/

There is a good bus system but it runs only 6 days a week and has major gaps between service time.   The best part is you can catch a bus in Seattle and go all the way to he heart of Vashon without transferring.  See the metro bus website below.

Also riding the bus to Vashon-Maury Island  you are able to have your bike with you and take off riding around Vashon-Maury Island and visiting all the great places on our island.  There is a King County Bike route map  see website: www.metrokc.gov/kcdot/roads/bike/maps/11.pdf

Tide tables are something we on the island carry in our car or have in our back pockets.   To find tide tables on line:
